Freaking Web 2.0

January 30th, 2006

This morning Mikull wrote up a post concerning Web 2.0. I have heard about it but, up until now, not really paid to much attention to it. Needless to say Mike has a point and this “new technology” will make it better for everyone in the long run.

Think about this…

Some of you own iPods becuase you want to either take your music with you or you’re tired of hearing all the f*cking commercials on the radio. You subscribe to satillite radio because you want to listen to Howard or non-stop polka music. The point is, you want it your way. You don’t want someone else telling you how to listen to your music. Why should the web (aka the ninner-net) be any different? If I want the navigation of the NY Times site to be on the right hand side, I should be able to do it becuase that is the way I like it.

From what I have seen, movable elements (without Flash) is just the begining of things to come. I think that I am going to concentrate mainly on this Ajax thing. Simply because it is being used in the latest version of Wordpress (2.0) and it seems like a VERY powerful tool.

I have been looking for a better way to do my photogallery, and this might provide the necessary means for me to do it. I can only imagine the possibilities right now. If I can do cool stuff like what has been done on my archives page or with the commenting system, I’m hooked.

So take a look at Web 2.0 and see what you can learn. I know that I will be.
